3 days chimpanzee trekking with a canopy walk and waterfall hiking in Nyungwe Forest National Park is a memorable Rwanda adventure. The park is located in the south-western part of Rwanda in an Afromontane type of forest, covering an area of 1015 km2. It’s a home to at least 500 chimpanzees that roam the forest, and on record, 30 have been habituated for trekking. But the other 13 primate species, not forgetting troops of colobus monkeys, can be trekked; on record, and 300 birds call it home; and the main attractions include chimpanzee tracking, waterfall hiking, and a visit to Gisakura Tea Plantation. In short, the safari starts and ends in Kigali.
Early morning picks up from your hotel or airport by our driver guide, and he or she will do a short brief about the tour. Later, head straight up to Nyungwe Forest National Park; upon reaching, you’ll retire into your booked accommodation, have lunch, and later in the afternoon, head out for a canopy forest walk, a platform that allows safari enthusiasts to view the entire forest from a different angle of alleviation. Afterwards, on the walking adventure, you’ll head back to the lodge so that you have your dinner and overnight.
Upon finishing with your breakfast early in the morning, get ready with your packed lunch and enough drinking water, and you’ll be transferred to the park headquarters. so that you get briefed about chimpanzee trekking rules and regulations by park rangers, then later be transferred to the starting point of the trek and head into the jungles to search for the chimpanzees. When finally found, take as many photos as possible because not more than an hour to view and photograph them is allowed. Later, return to the starting point to meet your driver or guide, who will return you to the lodge so that you’ll relax and wait for dinner and overnight.
After breakfast, you’ll be transferred to the starting point so that you are briefed about hiking and later start off trekking the trail through the forest while spotting birds and viewing the beautiful falls of Nyungwe Forest National Park for about 4–5 hours. Head back to the lodge for lunch, checkout, and drive back to Kigali for drop-off at the airport or desired destination.
